Summer Eclipse Mania 2017

By | 2017-08-04T19:21:05+00:00 August 4th, 2017|Categories: Articles|Comments Off on Summer Eclipse Mania 2017

Summer Eclipse Mania 2017 The next few weeks will feature two interesting eclipses – one lunar partial eclipse and one dramatic solar eclipse that will be visible over much of the continental United States. I will examine these two celestial events from a mundane perspective. For practicality, the charts will be displayed in wheel form cast for Philadelphia, PA., my location as well the USA’s birthplace. Astromaps for the events, of course, are not relegated to a specific place. The lunar partial eclipse will occur on 7 Aug 2017 at 2:10:32 p.m. EDT. The Sun will be at 15 Leo 25 and the Moon at 15 Aquarius 25. For those familiar with the 45-degree aspect series and the work of Reinhold Ebertin and others, this is an important degree since 15 degrees of any fixed sign is equal to the Aries Point a powerful indicator of impact on the world at large. Where will this eclipse manifest? Looking at the large map of the world, we can get an inkling of three main areas on earth were the eclipse is angular – Europe, Asia and North America.   In Europe, the moon rises while the Sun sets through Italy, the Balkans, the border regions amongst Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, Poland, and the Baltics. Expect news from these areas as far as leadership issues go. Pay special note of the Moon on the MC and Sun on the IC on the borders of India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Tibet, and western China. In North America, the Sun on the MC/Moon on the IC line goes through Guatemala, and Mexico before crossing the Gulf of Mexico and more or less following the Mississippi valley from Louisiana [...]

The 2017 USA Presidential Inauguration

By | 2017-08-03T23:11:56+00:00 August 3rd, 2017|Categories: Articles|Comments Off on The 2017 USA Presidential Inauguration

The 2017 USA Presidential Inauguration Due to the 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the previous President’s term ends exactly at Noon on January 20 after the most recent Presidential election, when the new President assumes power. Only in cases where a term is ended early (due to death or resignation) does this differ. Before this Amendment, Inauguration Day was March 4th. George Washington’s Inauguration took place on April 30, 1789 due to a delay caused by travel and other factors. It is thought that the moment of the Inauguration is essential to understanding any upcoming Presidential administration. Since the time, date, and place of the Inauguration is set by law, the Sun will always be close to the same degree – as will the Ascendant. Thus the Sun will always be at the beginning of Aquarius and the Ascendant will always be Taurus for a regularly scheduled Inauguration. What can be examined, however, are the Essential and Accidental Dignities and Debilities for the Domicile Rulers of those points – and every other point in the chart. For this Inauguration (and other normally scheduled ones) the Sun’s Domicile Ruler is Saturn. Saturn has dignity by Term and Face – and is placed in the 8th (Regiomontanus) House. The Ascendant’s Domicile Ruler, Venus is Dignified by Exaltation, has a Mutual Reception by Domicile with Jupiter, and is placed in the 11th House. That Mutual Reception is at the root of the chart. There are no planets in their own Domicile and everything in the chart disposes to that Mutual Reception between Venus and Jupiter. (Be advised, that classical rulerships are being used, and therefore Neptune is not considered to be the ruler of Pisces – Jupiter [...]

Election Day 2016

By | 2016-12-10T18:03:32+00:00 November 7th, 2016|Categories: Articles|Comments Off on Election Day 2016

This year’s presidential and general election has some interesting astrology configurations that inform it. - The Moon will be Void of Course from about 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. EST on 8 Nov 2016. The Moon will have Essential Dignity by Triplicity from that time through the rest of Election Day. - Neptune will be partile conjunct the Moon’s South Node all day. Neptune is also parallel the Moon, and the Moon applies to Neptune and the South Node. - Mars is placed in the last degree of Capricorn and will not enter Aquarius until after around 12:53 a.m. EST on 9 November. This means Mars will go from the sign of its exaltation to a Peregrine state. Mars goes from a very comfortable state to become an aimless wanderer. It doesn't want to be Mars anymore - it wants to be Saturn. And tends to fail miserably at it. - Jupiter applies sextile to Saturn and square Pluto. - There is a Mutual Reception by Domicile between Jupiter and Venus. To me this suggests that the heaviest (predictably, even without using astrology) turnout on the east coast will be before 9 a.m. and after 4:45 p.m. We likely will not have a firm result until around 1 a.m. EST, about an hour after the polls close on the west coast. The Moon (the people – and also women) will have spoken. At that particular time, the transiting Moon will Trine the Venus, Jupiter, and the Sun in the Declaration of Independence chart. The transiting Moon at that time will also partile conjoin the IC in the George Washington Inauguration chart (30 April 1789, about 12:45 p.m., New York, New York) and sextile Venus and [...]

An Encounter With a “Skeptic”

An Encounter With a “Skeptic” [NOTE:  This piece was written prior to entering journalism school – 23 years ago.  As such, some of the writing is not up to my current standard or AP Style.  I’ve only adjusted a bit of formatting to make it a bit more readable. The formatting is off because I had to grab it off of USENET.  I’ll try to clean it up a bit more when I have the time. I apologize in advance for my writing at that point in my life.] On June 20, 1992 I attended a lecture at the Universe ’92 National Astronomy Exposition and Fair.  The Lecture was by Andrew Fraknoi, and was titled “What I Would Have Said to Nancy Reagan: A Skeptical Look at Astrology”.  Mr. Fraknoi is the Executive Director of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, and Editor of its astronomy magazine, “Mercury”. Mr. Fraknoi began his presentation with a diatribe against the astrologer, Joan Quigley, who was employed by Nancy Reagan during the Presidency of Ronald Reagan.  The lecture was filled with inaccuracies and invective against Ms. Quigley.  At one point, Mr. Fraknoi even equated her to Rasputin. I feel that many of his remarks toward Ms. Quigley were slanderous. Mr. Fraknoi then went on to state that astrology was dangerous.  He explained this by saying that there were medical astrologers practicing without any formal medical training.  He also criticized the technique of Astro*Carto*Graphy(tm), saying that it encouraged clients to move across the country due solely to astrological factors. He then went on to enumerate his “Ten Embarrassing Questions to Ask Believers”.  Here is a paraphrased list of those questions 1. How likely is it that 1/12th the population will have the same characteristics? 2.  Why do astrologers use [...]
